Betsy Renke has always loved crafts! As a young child she loved making things for her Mom and Dad, whether is was plaster molds or houses from popsicle sticks. In her teenage years as a Girl Scout she was always making nature-scapes using rocks, leaves, twigs, and acorns. She also learned to sew in Home-Economics even making her own clothes.
Her love of wreaths started in the 1990s when she began making them "just for fun" to bring holiday cheer to her and her family. She moved to Tennessee in 2012 and started to expand her style of wreath making. She learned many things by watching videos and tutorials of wreath experts, such as Julie Siomacco. In 2016 she opened her first online business, "She Shed Home Decor". The name based on the She Shed her husband lovingly built for her and all her mountains of RIBBON! In 2021 she combined all her businesses which included wreaths and swags, floral arrangements, and seasonal decor
into her new and current business,
Handmade by BetsyR.
Betsy loves color! Her creations are large and look magnificent on entry doors. She loves ribbon and often uses it as the inspiration jump point for her designs. She then completes the design with baubles, balls, adornments and signs. She is her own harshest critic; if something doesn't make her happy then it isn't shipped or sold. Her design ideas also come from things around her such as her flower garden, bunnies hopping in the yard, or a bright red cardinal at the birdfeeder. Where ever they come from, they are 100% original and handmade with immense attention to detail.
